Personality: —tendou is an
extrovert. chipper and loud, he's enthusiastic, expressive and highly emotional in all things fun. and if they aren't fun, mmm— he'll make it fun, somehow.
—also rather showy, tendou
adores a good cheer,
attention on him and soaks it up as quick as a dry sponge and
will do his best to seek it out. as a child who grew up with bullying, positive attention for his skills and person make him visibly
shine. he loves being on the top and proving his worth that was oh so stepped on many moons ago, and can end up royally pissed if he's bested.
—tendou wasn't always the way he was! a constant victim of bullying do to how fucking
weird he looked as a kid, he'd constantly get shunned and called a
youkai in a very offensive way. when tendou discovered his talent at perceiving and acting, he found a strength in his weakness: taking down his bullies and making them feel helpless in sports (volleyball, in his case). tendou excelled in this, and began seeing himself in a different light: a monster who loves himself and rises above his tormentors with adaptability and high confidence one would be envious of.
—in some way, shape, or form, he's a little vengeful. as harmless as blocking in volleyball could be, the look of defeat and fear on the face of an opposing player completely tickles tendou. remember when everyone looked down on him, shot him down or called him a freak? how's it feel to be shot down by the freak? :')
—
intuitive. he's especially good at following and picking up on subtle cues, physical or emotional, always confiding in his abilities and gut instinct more than theory.
—staying true to himself, his desires and his own well being comes at the top of the list. you can call it being a bit
selfish, but tendou would object and say, hey— he deserves and owes it to himself for being so rad! how else could he be rad to others?
—he could be
sardonic, shown to provoke his opponents or others whenever he can as a psychological tactic to attack before being attacked, get them worked up to the point that they lose their poker face— a thing or two you learn from being bullied. but, as cocky and mocking as he may seem, tendou knows where to recognize talent and ability, and will eventually do so (if it doesn't bug him first).
—tendou's also one that often teases his friends (constantly, constantly, constantly), but all in good heart and meaning; he's fairly
caring and supportive of peers despite his constant jokes and capricious, carefree demeanor (like asking if shouyou could sleep in one of the rooms during training camp, or comforting goshiki when he begins to cry after a loss).
Abilities & Skills: mentioned briefly above, tendou has a rather amazing, astute sense of observation and foresight. he can easily pick up on physical ticks and emotional twitches that give him a strong, estimated guess, from daily happenings to sports, and more.
speaking of sports, tendou puts this skill to excellent use as a formidable
blocker on his high school volleyball team, earning himself the nickname
guess monster. aside from that, he's just a dumb teen from a sports manga.
Inventory/Companions: only regular clothes, a uniform and a sport's bag (with things like hygiene products, his phone, changes of clothes, a copy of shounen jump, maybe pudding).
Choice: roulette between these three, please!
puca: a puca's perks mirror tendou's rather well, including danger senses (his sharp intuition), luck and trickster nature. he would have tremendous fun with the shapeshifting/mimicry abilities, and being honorbound can also be an anchoring factor for him not to completely embrace the fun-tormenting. he'll be upset about losing a bit of height, having a heightened libido and some tricks may become a little more malicious on full moons.
turnskin: the original monster (and since tendou is already "monster" based)! i'd try my hand at symbolism and animal representations of mischief or cleverness, such as the chuckling hyena, that could be a perfect animal fit for tendou (please consider all that laughing). a pack instinct could be interesting, to mirror surrounding himself with people and the teamwork he finds in volleyball. the turnskin is also more emotion based, something that would prove challenging for tendou to keep under control as a rather emotional person.
chimera: chimeras are the freaks of all monsters, and!! so is tendou. the chimera's overall reception is poor due to their looks, matching rather well with tendou's early childhood— shunned and avoided for having a weird, oddly unnerving appearance. even then, adaptability and survival is what defines tendou's growth to overcoming those odds, even more so a canny talent at intimidation— one thing tendou benefits and uses
a lot to his advantage. primary animal would be hyena, secondary would be cockatoo, and third (if i end up using a third) is a little undecided: between some species of topi antelope, monkey, crow, or raccoon.
